My wife read a book a number of months ago that talked about this very thing. About how our mind begins to tell our eyes what we "see" rather than the other way around. I didn't read the book, but I pay attention when she mentions things (whether she knows it or not), and thats one of the points I've held on to.The Artist's Husbandhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06106866453485498462noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6283728847758282148.post-70509184536406998882010-07-25T16:15:05.218-07:002010-07-25T16:15:05.218-07:00This is very nice - has an oriental feel. I do believe that an artist can be self-made when there is motivation, and that all of us have it in us to some extent or another. Talent is overrated. Effort is underrated. To me, the key is seeing (as you have done in this drawing) - allowing your eyes to see, and forget what they supposedly know.Dan Kenthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13130079803891606515noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6283728847758282148.post-49131436456013231232010-07-25T12:17:46.690-07:002010-07-25T12:17:46.690-07:00great job! keep up the good work and you will see ...great job! keep up the good work and you will see progress!rrARTzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11150939363029466063noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6283728847758282148.post-87162073627936108492010-07-24T15:33:05.183-07:002010-07-24T15:33:05.183-07:00Terry: You've made a very nice drawing, love ...Terry: You've made a very nice drawing, love the perspective.

Think about this: art is an interpretation, an impression. If you want a "report," an exact documentation, then take a photograph. Art teaches you to express a feeling, what draws you to something.

Jesse/JoanJesse/Joannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6283728847758282148.post-6085394203023986482010-07-24T13:37:17.916-07:002010-07-24T13:37:17.916-07:00Thanks for all of the comments! I really prefer the idea of using pencils, because if I had them, I would erase quite a bit :P I'm a perfectionist and try to get all the details in the correct spot. Using pens made me be a bit more free and accepting. I look forward to doing more :)The Artist's Husbandhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06106866453485498462noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6283728847758282148.post-57399382639606494612010-07-24T10:56:16.525-07:002010-07-24T10:56:16.525-07:00Excellent aerial perspective in there. I use pen sometimes, but I think I draw just as well with the training wheels on. I don't erase much anyway.
